After attending, participants will be able to

Use Stages of Change to understand how people change and determine which change strategy has the greatest efficacy at each stage.

Use the style and spirit of listening required to motivate students to change and achieve.

Employ readiness rulers, confidence rulers, and commitment rulers in eliciting change talk.

Explain the fundamental conditions necessary to elicit “Change Talk.”

WORKSHOP OVERVIEW
This workshop provides school counselors with additional models and strategies for fulfilling their roles in the academic development domain — including motivational strategies for individual and group counseling, and consultation and training for parents, teachers, and systems on academic motivation issues.
